A Prayer of Thankfulness

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.  Psalm 95:1-5

Dear Jehovah-jireh, the Lord who provides;

Thank you Lord for this wonderful world you created for us in which to be – ‘fruitful and multiply’.  How blessed we are to have the trees of the forest you supply for fuel to keep us warm during long winter days.  For all the wonderful products made from wood like paper which gave us your immortal words in a book of His-Story.

Thank you for the oil and gas that supplies fuel for cars, trucks, trains, planes, runs machinery to plough our fields to produce food which in turn feeds and nourishes our nations.  Petroleum to supply hydro to light our way, heat our hospitals, schools, houses, businesses and so many more things too numerous to name.  Industry that gives jobs to all seeking to find a job to supply food, clothing and comfort to their loved ones and families.

Oil produces all of the plastic products that makes and supplies much needed medical supplies, waterproof containers, bags, crates and bins that make life easier to pack and carry without breakage or leakage.

Thank you for the ability you have given to us for mining the rocks and soil to make steel for our bridges,  for our cooking utensils, , furnaces, refrigerators, cars, trucks, a list that is endless in number.

You are Jehovah-jireh the Lord who supplies all our needs that you have lavished on us so abundantly.  Resources you have put right at our fingertips.

I ask for forgiveness for the power and greed that some have spawned, bringing with it hardship, enmity and strife to people and countries caught in their snare and corruptness.

Thank you for the many talents you have bestowed upon us that has not only created the wheel, so to speak, but have built upon it in new and unimaginable ways.

Lord, I am so thankful that you are in charge of the heavens and earth!  You are so loving, gracious, majestic, holy, and good.  I’m sorry we continue to ignore your goodness and provisions by worshipping other gods or what you have created, instead of You the Creator and sustainer of all.  We have treated all your gifts with arrogance as we act like we created them and have the ability to save or destroy this planet.

Your Word is no longer read or studied, but mocked, and people are now saying exactly what you prophesied in 2 Peter 3:4 – and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”  You also tell us at the right time You will destroy this planet with fire!  Anything we do to try to save it is futile against you our Creator.  “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.” 2 Peter 3:10

We ask along with David . . .What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour.  You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.” Psalm 8:4-8.

Most of all Jehovah-jireh I thank You for your gift of salvation for anyone who believes in your name and will confess their sins to You. The harvest is so great and the workers are so few in this end of earthly time.  I pray that you, Lord of the Harvest, will send more workers to help us tell about your great love for all mankind, that they may be saved from your wrath that awaits them after they die and leave this earthly life.  For You have told us in Your word . . .

Let no one deceive himself.  If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.  For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, and that they are futile.”  Therefore let no one boast in men.  For all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come . . .  all are yours.  And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.  1Cor.3:18-23

LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
