WHIRLWIND

The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm,
and the clouds are the dust of His feet.  Nahum 1:3b

One definition in the Oxford dictionary for whirlwind is… “A situation or series of events where a lot of things happen very quickly”.  Since December of 2011, I feel like I have been in a whirlwind!  A God ordained whirlwind!  At times I was literally flying through the air (fortunately in an airplane) before my feet once again touched ground, only to be uprooted again to a different place with different people, with different needs.  I’ve also put a lot of miles on my car while traversing to and fro, but sure have enjoyed the scenery along the way.

Ever see a man on a rolling log keeping his feet moving, afraid of a misstep that will cause him to fall through into the swirling waters below?  If he does, there is a real danger of all the other logs closing tightly over him so he can’t come up for air.  It seems I have been doing a lot of ‘fancy footsteps’ too these many months, but fortunately for me, God is directing them, and my feet keep hitting the rolling logs allowing me to stay on top!  Since December I have counted thirty or more happenings that I have been called to take part in, encourage, help, attend, or serve.

I must say I am always happy to get back to my own bed with all the comforts that go along with being in ones own home, a place of calm, respite, and rest.  I am blessed with a wonderful neighbor who looks after everything for me whenever I have to leave.  Blessings continue to abound around me here easing my own load with someone else’s helping hands.

Now you may think I am complaining here, but I am not!  God knows me well, and knows that I love to be active and involved in life.  I am most grateful that He is calling on me to be a part of this help and encouragement.  The replacement of my pacemaker in April has given me a new boost to keep up with this fancy footwork, enabling me to go in His pointed direction.

I am excited about where God will send me next!  The first big thing I see on the horizon is my mother’s 100th birthday coming up in October.  How many people in their  later years has their mother not only still with it, but with them?  My mother’s brain power is as good (if not better at times) than mine.  She is up on any subject you want to talk about, still reads her Bible along with many other books, and glorifies the Lord with her praises even through her aches and pains.

I love Jeremiah 29:11 where God says to Israel… “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I have taken that Scripture to heart and ask… “What are your plans for me now Lord?”    
